Perform leadership duties to ensure all employees are trained properly, and working safe and efficiently. 

 

Primary Duties:

  • Assist department supervisor in the safe & efficient operation of the department and fill-in for the supervisor when necessary
  • Ability to perform and fully understand all jobs within your area, meeting productivity and accuracy standards
  • Ensure daily requirements are met or exceeded by monitoring and tracking productivity of personnel
  • Maintain accurate records for department
  • Investigate inspections, customer complaints and vendor issues through notifications or other methods
  • Ensure tool library is current and accurate
  • Ensure sample process is conformant and timely
  • PTE deployment DSF Board and LSS projects
  • Assist Supervisor in leading 1st and 3rd shifts in the direction of department mission

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitor contributors for compliance with respect to safety housekeeping process control accuracy integrity efficiency attendance and merit performance
  • Use PC to enter data, create spreadsheets or documents and analyze data build reports and perform investigations
  • Utilize SAP and Dorman Portal daily
  • Coach, counsel, and train contributors via flexible scheduling as needing
  • Assist supervisor in motivating personnel to perform at optimum productivity and accuracy levels
  • Manage workflow in department and collaborate with Receiving for process flow
  • Communicate daily with Product Managers Engineers Quality Directors and Customer Service as well as site Leadership
  • Participate in department meetings LSS meetings kaizens and process improvement
  • Operate within standard operating procedures utilizing situational leadership New One Minute Manager and Pathway to Excellence practices  
  • Follow proper procedures to open and close the facility  
  • Use radio frequency hand held or truck mount scanning device
  • Assist in research requiring stock picker
  • Delegate responsibilities based on business demand
  • Maintain neat, clean and well-organized work area
  • Timely and regular attendance

 

Requirements:

  • At least three years of relevant experience
  • Excellent math skills
  • Excellent performance and safety record
  • No active warnings in file
  • Willing to work overtime as required
  • Accurate time keeping and record keeping, experience with Kronos helpful
  • Adhere to all safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines
  • Must have general knowledge of the business
  • Must be able to lead a group, experienced preferred  
  • Ability to assume leadership responsibilities and work with minimal supervision and follow written/verbal instructions
  • Proficient in time management, planning, and forward thinking  
  • Ability to learn Lean Six Sigma and assist in department improvement projects
  • Ability to adapt, accept, and promote changes while encouraging a team environment to achieve business goals
  • Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and convey information to assigned team  
  • Must possess sound interpersonal and communication skills in several forms, including written, verbal, memos, reports and emails
  • Ability to follow and promote company policies and procedures
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills  
  • Proficient level of Microsoft Office and SAP  
  • Ability to use web based software applications  
  • Ability to multi-task in very organized manner
  • Material Handler I certification
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:  Capability to lift 45 pounds. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen.  Noise level is usually moderate.
