Job Summary
The Safety Advocate will work to promote a safe, incident-free, and healthy work environment. Champion the cause of safety, comply with rules and regulations, and coach to compliance. Instrumental in driving a Safety First culture.
Primary Duties
- Facilitate incident investigation to make sure all steps are accounted for and to identify causes and determine how such incidents may be prevented in the future; conduct root cause analysis as necessary and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrences
- Provide First Responder care for the injured with certification in 1st Aid, CPR, AED, and BBP
- Participate in safety incident report outs
- Complete ergonomic assessments to identify risk and work to implement corrective actions
- Facilitate safety demonstration program
- Participate in safety focus groups
- Meet regularly as a safety department to discuss Continuous Improvement Ideas.
- Proficient in Root Cause Analysis methods
- Facilitate Stretching Program
- Facilitate the Return to Work program and follow up with them on a regular basis and report to HR as a liaison. Work with contributor post release to full duty
- Conduct EHS Audits and inspections to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, processes, and equipment. Report findings to leadership.
- Work with CDS/Urgency/6S Team on safety related responsibilities
- Safety High Five program
- Assist in the creation of curriculum, training tools, OPL’s, safe job practices/procedures
- Assist in New Hire Orientation Introductory/Safety Training
- Assist with safety boards and content management
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
- Accomplish safety goals set by the department and organization
- Strong representatives of the safety program at all times.
- Continuing education to stay current with the latest developments, skills, and information required for the role
- Maintain a floor presence and engage contributors in safety on a regular basis
Qualifications:
- Professional individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with contributors at all levels
- Ability to multi-task and effective time-management skills
- Demonstrates outstanding safety record
- Familiarity in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Must be willing to work off-shift 10% of the time and overtime as needed
- Detail oriented, self-directed makes collaborative effort to cover all important areas
- Capable of verbally communicate presentations
- Contributor engagement on the opportunity board
- Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 45 pounds.
- Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach, push, pull and lift with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up 45 pounds.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
