Product Engineering Technician

As Product Engineer Tech you are responsible for all aspects and daily functions of product development and engineering. Develop dimensional and material specifications for new components by providing engineering, design and benchmark service of current and new product line entities.  

Manage product documentation - Prepare, maintain and edit new and existing parts documentation, drawings, prints and product engineering and QC files. Produce product documents suitable for manufacture and/or resource of parts and components. You will be involved in factory and supplier relations, engineering, product documentation, applications, product development, and regulatory code compliance. 


Principal Accountabilities:  

  • Responsible for day-to-day product design and engineering of truck parts, other purchased items and related products.  

  • Provide support to Product Manager(s) on specific projects. 

  • Develop specifications for new truck parts 

  • Produce prints suitable for manufacture of new truck parts  

  • Develop specifications for existing truck parts and components suitable for resource. 

  • Convert existing conventional engineering documentation to electronic medium using AutoCAD. 

  • Maintain engineering documentation on all purchased items 

  • Assist Technical and Customer Service personnel in interpretation of component engineering documents. 

  • Inspect and evaluate vendor samples and first production parts. 

  • Monitor quality compliance of incoming purchased goods. 

  • Maintain product quality documentation to accepted industry standards as applicable to the Product Engineering function. 

  • Assist Product Managers in resolution of QC issues. 

  • Assist Product and Purchasing Managers in product cost reduction efforts. 

  • Assist in development and facilitate implementation of procedures, forms and systems for the product engineering function.  

  • Assist in development research and production of technical and product marketing materials. 

  • Assist in specification of capital equipment for Product Engineering 

  • Write requisitions for supplies, sample parts, tooling and outside analysis service. 



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 

  • Associate’s degree from 2-year college or technical school; or 6 months – 1 year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.  


Essential Functions  

  • Remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time 

  • Needs to be able to occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and etc. 

  • Consistently operate computer and other office machinery such as copy machine and fax 

  • Occasionally ascend/descend staircase  

  • Rarely position self to move about to access overhead and floor level. Such as cabinets or computer equipment 

  • Frequently communicate, detect, converse discern, and convey thoughts and ideas with co-workers, and outside customers/vendors  

  • Constantly use sight to assess, analyze data 

  • Rarely use smell to discern safety issues within the building such as smoke and or fumes 

  • Occasionally move and/or transport equipment up to 25 lbs. such as office equipment 

  • Consistently works in office environment with little or no exposure to weather
