Job Summary: 

The Heavy Duty Area Sales Manager, Northwest Region, will manage distribution within a geographic territory (WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, and parts of ND and SD) for Heavy Duty Sales.  In order to best serve our customers in the assigned territory this contributor should be centrally located within an area that typically spans multiple cities or states. This is a road warrior position that may require travel outside of the assigned area based on business needs. 

 

Primary Duties:

  • Drive sales, profitability and awareness of Dorman Products with Heavy Duty customers, within the assigned territory, in support of business plan achievement. 
  • Work with Fleet Specialist counterparts to develop strategies to support pull through business with the best distribution network.   
  • In order to increase sales, work with current and potential customers to gain new distribution and optimize inventory/deployment within existing categories.  
  • Using broad HD experience work with local distribution, service / spring shops, and small to medium size fleets.   
  • Develop and manage relationships with key individuals that may include ownership, purchasing, parts managers, and inside / outside sales within their distribution network.   
  • Maintain regular contact with customers and represent Dorman at customer events. 
  • Occasionally assist with pull through support such as sales/counterperson training, market blitzes and changeovers.  
  • Working to continuously grow sales, ensure proper implementation of key corporate initiatives and advocate for key customer initiatives that may include product promotions, trade events, changeovers, sales blitzes, and resolution of customer issues.   
  • Manage channel conflict to ensure complimentary distribution within a market.  Other duties as assigned.  

 

Qualifications: 

  • High level of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Self-starter that thrives in remote office environment. 
  • Fact based competitive selling experience and strong presentation skills. 

 

Travel Requirement: Ability to travel 50% or more of the time, including weekend travel as needed.

 

The estimated Total Targeted Cash compensation range for this role is listed below. Total Targeted Cash for this role consists of a base salary, $83,100 - $121,100, plus this role qualifies for an annual sales incentive bonus. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location.

Salary:  $83,100-$121,100 + Annual Sales Incentive Bonus

 

Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.  

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen.  Noise level is usually moderate. 

 

Education or experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, automotive technology or a related field preferred 
  • 5+ years of applicable experience 
  • Prior experience working with WDs, Jobbers, or Technicians preferred.
