Job Summary:

Responsible for leading site’s supply chain team in driving continuous improvement and best-in-class execution that (a) maximizes customer satisfaction through world class on time delivery and lead times, (b) optimizes inventory, and (c) delivers the lowest total landed cost to Dorman.

Primary Duties
  • Manages site’s supply chain functions including material planning, procurement, supplier performance management, shipping, receiving, and warehousing.
    • Leads and directs employee functions such as selection, hiring, and development of employees, including making salary decisions, conducting performance reviews and creating development plans. Manages training of site’s supply chain personnel, including sponsoring professional certifications and hands-on training.
    • Sets, drives improvement and reports on site’s supply chain KPI’s including; supplier quality, delivery, cost, stock-rates, and inventory turns.
    • Monitors Buyer/Planners for proper execution of material replenishment processes. 
    • Leads production planning efforts and inventory allocations at multiple sites.
  • Supplier Quality, Delivery and Cost Management
    • Provides suppliers with demand forecasts and proactively monitors supplier’s short-term capacity (0-12 mth). Works with suppliers to address temporary constraints and escalates potential long-term supplier capacity issues to Commodity Managers. Champions and drives Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment with key suppliers targeting at an optimal end to end supply chain.  
    • Negotiates pricing and lead-times on non-standard items or for large projects with suppliers. Involves Commodity Managers as required. 
    • Objectively measures and communicates supplier performance to support supply chain continuous improvement efforts.  Interfaces with Suppliers, Quality, Commodity Management, and Engineering to quickly resolve quality and/or delivery issues.
    • Provides effective support to new product development teams, bid responses, and subcontracting opportunities as they develop.
    • Ensures quick resolution of shipping discrepancies, vendor returns, receiving errors, and invoice errors, and authorizes all inventory adjustments. Coordinates adjustments to ship dates or quantities on open purchase orders as necessary.
    • Maintains site’s SAT (Spend Analysis Tool) database. Evaluate supplier spends & part pricing to drive lowest total landed cost.
    • Drives increased inventory turns, reduced cycle times, and improved Customer OTD by developing, implementing and managing pull-based material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanban cards, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignment programs.
  • Production, Material and Inventory Planning
    • Lead multiple site’s production planning activities to ensure balance flow and efficiency.
    • Constrain the Forecast and Shape Demand in alignment with sales and marketing efforts, supply chain capabilities, capacities, and lead-times.
    • Analyze, identify gaps and recommend/implement solutions to ensure material and capacity plans are effectively aligned to forecasted demand and that key business objectives/KPI’s (customer on-time delivery to business model lead-time, inventory turns and operations variable costs, etc.) will be achieved. 
    • Sets and maintains Planning settings, Kanban sizing (site’s and suppliers) and ordering policies in line with CPE guidelines to ensure material flow is optimized to improve customer metrics while optimizing inventory levels and demand fluctuations across the supply chain.
    • Ensure clear and effective communication of demand forecasts across site’s supply chain. 


  • Demonstrated abilities in building and leading teams.
  • Hand-on experience leading the planning, procurement, production control, inventory management and warehousing functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands on experience supporting new product development projects.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.
  • Certification in APICS and ISM is desired.
  • Willingness to travel 25%.
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education And/Or experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Supply Chain management role, including 2 years in a leadership role.
  • BA/BS or regional equivalent in engineering, business or technical discipline. An MBA is desired.
