Job Summary

The Plant Quality and EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental (EMS) programs at our Lewisberry manufacturing site. This role is instrumental in fostering a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment while ensuring full compliance with internal policies, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.

 

The successful candidate will establish and maintain a comprehensive quality and environmental management system aligned with international standards and business objectives. They will champion continual improvement initiatives, ensure all products meet defined specifications and quality standards, and promote a strong culture of safety throughout the plant.

Primary Duties

Quality Management

  • Develop and implement QMS to ensure products/services meet organizational and customer requirements.
  • Monitor performance metrics and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead risk-based thinking activities and prevention to eliminate potential cause of nonconformities.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Ensure issues for new and existing products are addressed proactively using Advanced Quality Planning tools including PDCA, FMEA, Control plans, Process Flow Charts, Statistical Process Capability and Design of Experiments.
  • Develop widespread internal audit system to ensure process compliance and optimize resources.

Environmental Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain our comprehensive EMS, including health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct workplace risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate hazards.
  • Lead incident investigations, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training on safety protocols and emergency response procedures for all employees.
  • Develop a structured framework to identify, manage, and reduce environmental impacts.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality and safety practices into operational processes.
  • Foster a culture of quality and safety through employee engagement and training initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide a team of quality and safety professionals, promoting professional development.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Prepare and present quality, environmental, and safety performance reports to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to quality assurance, safety audits, and compliance activities.

Leadership Skills

  • Team Management: Experience in leading and mentoring cross-functional teams.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Training and Development: Ability to design and deliver training programs on quality and safety practices.

Problem-Solving Skills

  • Root Cause Analysis: Proficiency in techniques for identifying and resolving quality and safety issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience with methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Expertise in leading FMEA to identify potential issues in designs and processes.
  • Expertise in using 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and other tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies applied to automotive processes.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and departments.
  • Influencing: Skill in persuading and motivating others to embrace quality and safety initiatives.

Organizational Skills

  • Project Management: Experience in managing multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Strong skills in maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.

Adaptability

  • Crisis Management: Experience in responding to incidents and emergencies effectively.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with industry quality structure; APQP/PPAP, FMEAs, Control Plans, Corrective Action, 5W and 8D methodology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality and environmental system management within a regulated industry.
  • Proven track record of implementing quality management systems and environmental protocols.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with integrating an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and regulatory requirements, fundamental knowledge of IATF 16949 Automotive Quality Management System, a significant plus
  • Experience integrating ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $92,700.00 to $135,100.00. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
