Product Engineering Technician

Now that Dorman Products and Dayton Parts LLC have joined forces to accelerate growth in the heavy duty aftermarket, we’re adding a Product Engineering Technician to our amazing team to support that growth and make us a heavy duty powerhouse. This is a fast paced, high visibility engineering position to support new product engineering and design for manufacturing of leaf springs in our Harrisburg, PA plant. Duties fall into 3 main areas:

1.  New Product Design (Leaf springs) design

  • New product design and development
  • Generate CAD models and/or drawings for leaf springs
  • Review and update drawings for existing products
  • Developing, maintaining, and coordinating all engineering changes requests.
  • Working with Product Management and customers to develop new leaf springs


2.  Manufacturing Support and ERP system maintenance

  • Maintenance of our ERP system in including part number setup, maintenance of BOMs, routings and part setup data
  • Become the leaf spring site expert to support manufacturing, new product introduction, assist in manufacturing pilot for new products.
  • Develop and compile setup data for specific workstations
  • Standardize specifications to reduce setup times 
  • Assist in prototype development and existing product modifications
  • Optimization of raw material usage


3.  Quality Support

  • Failure or nonconformance root cause analysis and 8D process
  • Working with Production to assist in improving specifications and procedures to reduce errors
  • As needed, assist in final inspection processes



  • Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Prefer minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Product, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or related fields
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with leaf springs preferred, but not required
  • Strong AutoCAD skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Comfortable with internal and external customer communication and problem solving
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with other teams across a range of projects
