Job Summary
We are excited to invite applications for the position of Manufacturing Controls Engineer at our innovative automotive technology company. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the design and development of advanced automotive test systems aimed at enhancing both our current products and new developments. This position requires a collaborative mindset, as you will work closely with other engineers and team members, contributing to projects that may extend beyond your primary responsibilities. Your expertise will play a critical role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Primary Duties
- Develop robust test system software and hardware while collaboratively engaging with a multidisciplinary engineering team to drive project success.
- Design and construct test system hardware interfaces, ensuring seamless integration with software components.
- Evaluate the scope of potential software tasks effectively by providing thorough feasibility assessments along with accurate project time and cost estimates.
- Determine precise project specifications by analyzing product design documents, gathering customer requirements, and adhering to performance standards.
- Confirm and validate product performance through the design and execution of comprehensive testing protocols, ensuring all criteria are met.
- Maintain and manage project timelines by continuously monitoring project progress, addressing issues promptly, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Encourage a cooperative work environment by contributing to the team's collective efforts through collaborative engagement on projects outside of your defined duties, fostering innovation and flexibility.
Qualifications
- Mandatory experience with National Instrument LabVIEW, demonstrating proficiency in developing complex test systems effectively.
- Experience in designing, building, and optimizing custom Electro-Mechanical Test Equipment tailored for automotive applications.
- A thorough understanding of Automotive Systems, including communication protocols, diagnostics, and testing standards, is essential for success in this role.
- Demonstrated project management skills, showcasing the ability to lead tasks from conception through to completion efficiently.
- A keen focus on process improvement and optimization, continually seeking opportunities to enhance workflows and productivity.
- Strong technical understanding and analytical skills are required to address complex engineering challenges effectively.
- A demonstrated passion for automotive performance, along with a drive for continuous learning and professional development, is a valuable asset.
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes is a must.
- Physical requirements include the capability to lift up to 20 pounds periodically. Successful candidates will generally be required to reach, swivel, carry equipment necessary for testing, and communicate effectively in moderate noise environments
- Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, AutoCAD, and MS Office
Education / Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or in a related technical field is required to ensure foundational knowledge and competence in the discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience is preferred, allowing applicants to bring a rich background of knowledge and skills to the position.
