Job Summary

The Dorman Technical Training Director will lead, develop and launch our new Service Technician Training Program.  We are looking for a training director with the experience to stand up and staff a national training technical training program. This program is currently in pilot forum with the intent of starting national launch plans in major markets in 2H, 2019.

 

Our objective is to offer best in class technical training on the latest technologies to enable service technicians to diagnose and repair today’s complex vehicles.   This person will work closely with our Innovation and Product Teams, to ensure we deliver the most highly sought after in person and online training classes in the Aftermarket. 

Responsibilities and Duties/Essential Duties

  • Transition this effort from a one-market pilot test to a national program
  • Develop the entire training curriculum process working with ASE trainers and Dorman Product and Innovation teams who generate the content for new training modules
  • Develop the clinic customer setup process
  • Trains the trainers on presentations and works with field trainers to reflect the Dorman Tech Training tone, look and feel.
  • Develop post-class surveys, make according changes and upgrades to the program as well as report out survey results and attendance trends.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Training Director has first-hand responsibility for the technical training team-  4 to 8 direct reports.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience in training
  • A demonstrated interest in learning sciences and broad knowledge of learning techniques
  • Technically savvy, with the ability to grasp new technical concepts and quickly turn them into training content, as well as utilize technology to deliver high-quality learning experiences
  • Proven ability to effectively manage, lead and motivate other contributors to the live and digitally based training program
  • Project management and customer service skills to manage multiple priorities in a complex challenging environment
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentations skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience in training
  • 5+ years of training management and training leadership experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical training role
  • A demonstrated interest in learning sciences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% annually
