Dorman Products, a $1.3B+ global supplier of aftermarket motor vehicle parts with 3,300+ Contributors and 28 sites across the globe, is seeking a North American Supplier Quality Manager to join our growing Quality Department. This is a new role in which the Supplier Quality Manager will be a working manager responsible for leading and managing the Supplier Quality Team while implementing global/regional quality initiatives related to new product launches and existing product platforms. In addition, the Supplier Quality Manager will be responsible for developing suppliers’ quality management capability and performance, governing new suppliers audits/annual audits, supporting new products development, and driving continually improvement of supplier performance. Activities include governing the supplier audits, leading the team to support new product introduction, project management, supplier performance reviews, supplier corrective & preventive actions planning and execution, and supplier training.
The Supplier Quality Manager will collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams and leaders, including Engineering, Lab Services, Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Product Management, and Quality.
Primary Duties:
- Manage assigned SQE team’s daily operation to deliver business/functional requirements and expectations
- Take ownership and leadership in the quality process standardization and implementation, as well as new process development
- Manage and support the team to continually improve product quality and supplier quality performance
- Develop team organizational strength and develop key talents
- Drive quality team’s engagement, compliance, utilization of quality tools and processes
- Provide support in new products & projects development; Support the creation of product specifications and validation of FAI (First Article Inspection) samples and required gauges/tools needed for product validation
- Facilitate and support SQE team to work closely with SBU, cross function teams and suppliers to ensure product’s design and quality specifications are met
- Drive the development and continuous improvement of supplier performance metrics and KPIs
- Train and drive suppliers to improve quality management system and product quality/warranty.
Requirements:
- Experience with automotive industry quality systems; APQP/PPAP, FMEAs, Control Plans, corrective action reporting, 5W and 8D methodology
- Knowledgeable in Federal Acquisition Regulations practices as it relates to quality processes with Governmental entities
- Experience working with IATF16949 and/or ISO9001 quality management systems
- Demonstrated ability to work on cross functional teams and ability to lead projects
- In depth knowledge of various commodities including but not limited to; machined, casted and molded components, PCB and electronic assemblies, testing of materials/products, ESD handling and packaging
- Technical capabilities including understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerances
- Certified supplier auditor a plus; VDA 6.3 is preferred
- Familiar with automotive vehicle components and sub systems
- Knowledge of specifications such as SAE, ASME, ANSI, etc.
- Ability to travel 50%
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' relevant supplier quality engineering experience across diverse materials / processes
- Minimum 3 years' supplier quality assurance experience in a leadership role
