Procurement & Inventory Planning Manager

The Procurement & Inventory Planning Manager  for Dorman Products will report directly to the Director, Supply Chain and will be responsible for driving improvements in the procurement process and ordering strategies within the supply chain organization.  Through an optimized supply planning and inventory approach, this leader helps advance the company’s strategic imperatives to enhance ordering strategies, deliver margin expansion, improve inventory turns, and ensure service levels exceed customer expectations. This individual is a critical member of the supply chain team and will work cross functionally with all the supply chain and product organization to generate desired planning strategies and lead initiatives that will optimize inventory positions and customer serviceability. This position requires extensive analytic and material planning competencies.

 

Primary Duties

  • Drive improvements and efficiencies in the procurement process and order management release strategies
  • Manage stock module determine to best balance customer service levels and inventory target by setting material group strategies based on product characterizes and lifecycle
  • Create and deploy inventory strategies to improve overall inventory turns while maintaining 95% service levels to customers
  • Create inventory plans and projections which will be shared with the leadership team in the monthly SIOP process
  • Develop and implement a planning parameter review process and work with all material planners across the organization to ensure acceptance and efficiency of the process  
  • Complete monthly rollup of supply chain performance KPI’s and perform deep dives if targets are not achieved and create plans to mitigate gaps
  • Monitor the demonstrated end to end supply chain delivery performance vs the system planned lead times and create actions plans to address gaps and implement changes when not achieving planned levels
  • Actively drive and champion the adoption of newly implemented system, procedures, and tools which drive process improvement
  • Develop and implement SOPs for material planning that enables the systemic improvement of the planning and supply chain organization
  • Identify increased demand trends via the SIOP process to trigger capacity reviews at key vendors supporting the correlating product lines
  • Implement strategies and work cross functionally with the business units to drive improvement reduce the excess and obsolete inventory position

 

Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communications skills, including executive presentation skills
  • Strong ERP and MRP system experience
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret large amounts of data
  • Solid understanding of inventory planning theory, methods and techniques
  • Demonstrated competency with cross-functional engagement and collaboration
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and decision- making skills
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with concentration in Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Business or related field
  • MBA is preferred
  • APICS certification is preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience as a supply chain planning professional
