Job Summary:

This position will provide procurement support to the Procurement department, Strategic Sourcing department, Strategic Business Units, and cross-functional teams to execute new product development and strategic sourcing initiatives.

 

Primary Duties (5-7 Key responsibilities)

Support and manage complete product and component solutions for new product development and strategic sourcing initiatives, including: initial quotes, negotiations, supplier selection, product/component approvals, implementing design changes, and issuing initial purchase orders.

  • Facilitate activities and communication as the liaison between suppliers and cross-functional project teams including Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Supply Chain.
  • Provide data analyses and input as required by Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or cross-functional teams to ensure the best business results - challenging decisions where appropriate.  
  • Manage supplier performance to deliver project goals and execute recovery plans when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities and carry out continuous improvements to procurement processes. Participate as a cross functional team member, actively working toward successful implementation and completion of team goals and objectives 
  • Required to maintain system data through Team and functional processes.

 

Qualifications:

Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, resourceful, and work well in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Must be able to develop relationships and initiate, communicate, and take actions to resolve issues both internally and externally.
  • Must successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously to transition products from development into production.
  • Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data.
  • Knowledge of supplier and component qualification processes.
  • Proficiency within ERP/MRP environments and the Microsoft Office Suite –Advanced Excel skills preferred.  
  • Ability to navigate cross-cultural environment of the global supply base and Dorman international offices.  
  • CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing, or Six-Sigma Green Belt certifications highly desirable.
  • Must adhere to and maintain ethical business standards and make unbiased business decisions. 

 

Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.

 

Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education And/Or experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with concentration in one or more of the following disciplines: Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Business.
  • 2-5 years’ experience as a business professional with related experience.
