Dorman Products, a $1B global supplier of aftermarket automotive parts, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to join our growing team. As a Mechanical Engineer II for Dorman, Design, develop and implement test fixtures, functional gauges and custom test equipment to support new product development and/or reduce the cost of qualityWe are seeking engineers who can think outside the box and use creative methods to solve problems and develop new solutions. Primary Duties

  • Design of fixtures, functional gauges, and custom test equipment from concept to implementation.
  • Document setup, work instructions and maintenance for each assigned project.
  • Maintain document library and revision levels.
  • Create, review, and approve models and drawings using Solidworks.
  • Assist other team members with larger projects.
  • Create and maintain bill of materials for each project.
  • Participate in continuous lean improvements.
  • Clear documentation of assigned projects including: Operator instructions, Technical drawings, Operation Setup, Maintenance, Bill of Materials.
  • Manage multiple projects with high attention to detail, due dates and priorities.
  • Follow team schedule and project completion goals.



  • Proficient in reverse engineering and product development.
  • Proficient with tooling and fixture design using 2D and 3D CAD Software (Solidworks).
  • Knowledge and experience with Manufacturing Methods, Machining Operations, and automation equipment.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949 Quality Management Systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems, hardware, and diagnostics.
  • Proficient with Technical Documentation.
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experienced with the use of power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Experience in cross-functional team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access.
  • Experience with facility inventory control system(s) – SAP, AS/400, etc.
  • Familiarity with test software (C+, Labview, etc.)


Education and/or Experience

  • Technical degree (BS) in mechanical engineering with 7+ years of experience; or 
  • Associate degree with 9+ years of experience  
  • Preferred advanced degree (MSME, MSEE)
