The Master Data Manager - referred to as Manager, Master Data Office (MDO) at Dorman Products - is accountable for executing a master data management strategy across the enterprise. The Master Data Manager is responsible for the establishment and tracking of metrics on data quality. This role works across all aspects of master data management, with an immediate focus on the customer, and is a part of an expanded business intelligence effort to turn data into information and insight. Primary Duties:

  • Support the vision for the Master Data Office for the company with a focus on how to utilize data to achieve exceptional growth through data standardization and information management.
  • Own responsibility for managing and overseeing the operation of the master data management program, including setting milestones, reviewing progress, and reporting status/metrics.
  • Collaborates with Catalog Manager, Product Management and accounts to identify additional data standards/attributes needed to increase Dorman product lookup hits in internal/external systems.
  • Develop a continuous improvement mindset in the organization by constantly striving for ways to reduce master data management costs and optimize master data value.
  • Maintain working relationships with all levels of business leadership to ensure business needs are met.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new technologies and practices used in the master data process through exposure to industry practices, changing technology, and proactive networking.
  • Perform additional ad hoc tasks as required or participate in technology and business projects across company and industry.
  • Accountable for leading a team to deliver on all the responsibilities listed above.

 

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Business or Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience within IT Management and/or Business Management with a focus on master data management (MDM). 
  • 2+ years of people management experience highly desired.
  • Experience in Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Quality Management and/or Data Architecture Standardization
  • Previous master data management (MDM) capabilities managing data that is purchased or received through indirect channels.
  • Must have a proven track record of establishing working relationships with senior business stakeholders.
  • Direct experience leading teams with both internal and external resources and managing vendors to an agreed upon performance level.
  • Understands how data is utilized to drive growth and differentiation.
  • Knowledgeable of master data management (MDM) strategies and best practices.
  • Strategic and forward-thinking mindset to proactively set vision for data within the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding.
  • Willingness to become conversational in and an appreciation for the technical aspects of data management.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and drive collaboration across the organization.
  • Ability to forge strong partnerships with vendors, business partners and internal customers.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality results under pressure.
  • Ability to build and lead diverse teams.
