Logistics Analyst I

A Logistics Analyst for Dorman Products is responsible for enhancing transportation strategies and processes to support company distribution centers and Customer needs.  This will be achieved by improving departmental KPIs, analysis of data to initiate positive change, streamlining internal / external processes, working with transportation partners, and driving focused projects for continual improvement.


Primary Duties

  • Establish / manage carrier and service provider partnerships to ensure reliable transportation networks
  • Study and report on industry trends including transportation price, capacity, fuel and regulation
  • Report on logistics services provider’s performance against established goals and service level agreements.  Build and introduce corrective action plans to address any service failures.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance department KPIs.  Analyze results and develop strategies that improvement cost and / or service performance for both inbound and outbound shipping
  • Create and distribute RFP documents for competitive bid process / contract negotiations.  Manage / participate in the bid process from beginning to end of the life cycle
  • Stay informed of current and future industry trends, standards, practices, and rules / regulations.  These insights will be used to develop strategic plans for effective / efficient logistics operations
  • Coordinate and/or participate in departmental or cross functional projects and initiatives as required



  • Seasoned experience in logistics with a proven track record for driving change / improvements in Logistics with tangible results
  • Solid understanding of transportation and/or warehouse operations, terms and concepts
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of raw data and summarize into clear, accurate, meaningful, value-added reports and analysis
  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with internal and external Customers
  • Possess forward thinking, strong analytical capability, excellent problem solving, the ability to manage change, solid execution and a commitment to help the company meet financial objectives and exceed Customer expectations
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills are key to successful job performance
  • Desire/drive to lead initiatives independently or cross functionally to meet changing requirements
  • Current or future capability to mentor and mange others to higher levels of personal performance
  • High proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, Business Objects
  • Skills in SAP and TMS systems a plus
  • Understanding of electronic data exchange (EDI) methods and technology


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience within Transportation / Logistics
