IT Project Manager

As an IT Project Manager for Dorman Products, you will join a growing information technology team that is delivering innovative solutions to support Dorman Products significant business growth plans within the rapidly changing automotive industry.  We are looking for a professional with experience in managing cross functional, complex IT projects across a variety of business functions and application platforms. This role will also require direct interaction with a broad range of senior, technical and functional managers and subject matter experts throughout the organization. Project solutions will entail fully integrated process, organizational, and information technology components. This position requires day-to-day management of project team personnel, communication with key stakeholders, and hands-on, experience-based delivery leadership. The ideal candidate for this position can manage projects using traditional waterfall or agile project management methodologies. Depending upon the project scope, you may be called on to also perform traditional IT business analyst functions including leading teams to define as is and to be business processes and related system requirements.   

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Provide project leadership, management and oversight throughout the phases of Dorman’s solution delivery methodology: Plan, Analyze, Design, Build, Test, Deploy
  • Facilitate fact finding sessions with key business and IT staff to assess as-is capabilities, perform root cause analysis, define solution requirements, perform feasibility analyses, and define high-level solution alternatives and approaches. 
  • Prepare project proposals, business cases, and detailed project plans.
  • Provide hands-on project management and actively manage the project plan, deliverables, dependencies, and outcomes for all aspects of the project (including business process, organization, and IT solution components) across all phases 
  • Actively monitor, manage, and communicate key project control dimensions including scope, time, cost, resources, risk, dependencies, procurement, and quality across all phases.
  • Develop and implement change management and communications plans to ensure solution adoption pre-, during-, and post-implementation.
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of all project deliverables.  Develop, monitor, and manage project metrics including benefits capture.
  • Work with executive and senior management to improve overall project delivery and support processes



  • Proven project management skills and significant exposure to sound project management and system implementation methodologies and practices. 
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to translate complex information into comprehensive and concise business terms. 
  • Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building at all levels of a company.
  • Ability to think strategically and analyze trends, situations, and industry specific data to identify business and technical solution opportunities 
  • Ability to multitask and deliver on several simultaneous initiatives 
  • Self-motivated, independent contributor with the ability to learn new business areas, tools and concepts quickly. 


  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience managing matrixed project teams with onshore/offshore resource model.
  • Held previous business analysis and project management positions in a consumer products, manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • PMI certification desired but not required.
  • Experience running or working in a PMO desired.
  • Background in larger enterprise IT solutions including SAP, Hyperion,, SuccessFactors, Qlik, Business Objects is a plus but not required.
