Engineering Assistant - Part Time

Dorman Products, a $1.3B+ global supplier of aftermarket motor vehicle parts with 3,300+ Contributors and 28 sites across the globe, is seeking an Engineering Assistant for a PART TIME position, roughly 25 hours/week, Monday through Thursday for 3 to 6 months with the intention of hiring full-time. As an Engineering Assistant for Dorman, you will provide ongoing, foundational support to the Engineering Team throughout the product development cycle, through the coordination of product sample and information management. No engineering experience is required. If you are highly organized and are able to drive results through prioritization of competing deadlines, often within tight timeframes, we want to hear from you! 

Primary Duties

• Collect data on automotive samples and enter data into Excel. 
• Utilize lab measurement equipment to measure automotive part dimensions and properties.
• Organize and manage all sample inventories: Original Equipment (OE) Manufacturer, Competitor, Internal, and First Article Inspection (FAI), create sample libraries, organize locations, etc.
• Follow up, track, and document in support of the engineering team’s needs.
• Manage several aspects of the engineering milestone process needs.
• Oversee team area, keeping it organized and in order.
• Collaborate cross-functionally within the team and participate in projects outside the team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Education / Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Microsoft Office including basic Excel skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Must be comfortable working within multiple systems.
• Experience working in a fast-paced team environment.
