Director, Global Quality

The Director of Global Quality is responsible for the enterprise-wide quality and warranty program designed to ensure continuous improvement in a diversified product mix environment.  Reporting to the Vice President of Quality, this highly visible position will be charged with the objective to develop Dorman Product’s quality management system based on a prevention and predictive approach.  This leader will lead cross-functional & cross-divisional teams throughout multiple locations to prevent quality issues, ensure the highest quality products and services, exceed quality objectives and customer expectations. This individual will have an entrepreneurial spirit, a cross-functional perspective, and solid business acumen to build and execute a vision and strategy for advancement of the business. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Champion the development and deployment of the Global Quality Management System that results in measurable improvements in customer satisfaction, product & process quality and warranty reductions
  • Establish quality goals, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives focused on continual improvement and reduction and process variation
  • Develop and implement operational business plans, strategies, and organization design that are consistent with short and long-term company goals and objectives.
  • Champion data driven decisions to achieve product excellence; problem solutions and continual improvement using various problem-solving techniques and statistical data.
  • Support new product launch activities by strengthening the company’s standardized launch process that includes; Production Readiness Assessments, Design and Development, Risk Mitigation Management, Early Production Containment, and PPAP.
  • Build customer and supplier partnerships to closely monitor “voice of the customer” and proactively adapt to changing market and customer needs.
  • Review and provide on-site assessments of quality and technical development capability of strategic supplier partnerships.
  • Work closely with Product Team, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, and Sales on cross functional and company initiatives with direction from Department VP.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.  Builds a great working environment for the contributors.  Attracts, develops, retains, and motivates the talent needed to be a world class, high performing team.

Responsible for oversight and maintenance of department budget.
