Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician III plays a vital role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of production and facility equipment. This position involves performing a broad range of technical tasks including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance activities in alignment with safety standards and predictive maintenance systems. The role supports the organization's strategic goals by minimizing downtime and enhancing equipment reliability, contributing directly to the overall success of the site’s operations.

Primary Duties

  • Install, maintain, and repair production machinery and facility equipment, applying a wide array of technical skills to meet operational requirements.
  • Respond promptly to emergency or unscheduled repair needs during production hours, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance activities in accordance with machine service plans and predictive maintenance protocols.
  • Apply basic carpentry, welding, and electrical skills to support the upkeep and modification of plant infrastructure and equipment.
  • Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex production machinery.
  • Accurately read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders to execute maintenance tasks effectively and safely.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and adjustments post-repair to ensure optimal machine performance and safety compliance.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance programs across equipment and plant facilities to reduce downtime and prolong asset life.
  • Manage plumbing and carpentry maintenance tasks, ensuring facility systems are functional and compliant with safety standards.
  • Operate an assortment of hand and power tools, electrical meters, and material handling equipment with proficiency and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Detect and report faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual situations promptly to appropriate supervision for timely resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment consistent with company safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform routine office maintenance including minor repairs, cubicle relocations, and lighting maintenance to support daily operations.
  • Undertake janitorial duties within and outside the facility and participate in snow removal tasks during inclement weather to ensure safe access.
  • Operate motorized industrial vehicles such as scissor lifts and maintenance carts safely and efficiently.
  • Engage actively in departmental meetings and cross-functional projects aimed at continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
  • Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures and company policies in all aspects of work.
  • Maintain a neat, organized work area to enhance productivity and safety for self and colleagues.
  • Embrace additional responsibilities and duties as assigned to support team and organizational needs.

  • Competence in following inventory procedures ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of inventory control.

Technical Qualifications

  • Proficient reading and interpretation of safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedural documents.
  • Effective written communication skills for preparing reports, correspondence, and documenting maintenance activities.
  • Solid mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using various units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to interpret and respond to complex maintenance problems using written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.
  • Successful completion of motorized industrial equipment operation testing and obtaining necessary licensure.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds regularly as part of maintenance duties.
  • Capacity to work in physically demanding environments involving standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • Excellent vision requirements including close, distance, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust visual focus under varying conditions.
  • Willingness to work in environments with exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels, adhering to all safety guidelines.

Education / Experience

Candidates must satisfy at least two of the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED paired with successful completion of Crown Certification focusing on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Certification in welding or a minimum of three years’ experience in welding, cutting, and metal fabrication tasks.
  • Certified Electrician status or five years of electrical experience accompanied by technical or vocational training showcasing hands-on expertise with 220 and 480 volt, 3-phase wiring systems.
  • Successful passing of skills assessment tests in key technical areas such as basic welding, electrical repair, and mechanical systems proficiently.

The US base rate for this full-time position is 24. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
