Job Summary

Join Stanley Springs as a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic IV and become an essential part of a team dedicated to delivering superior repair and maintenance services for commercial and heavy-duty vehicles. In this full-time role, you will apply your expertise to ensure trucks and other vehicles operate safely and efficiently, supporting our clients' operational needs while upholding our reputation for excellence.

This role involves conducting detailed inspections, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, and performing high-quality repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of heavy and light-duty vehicles. You will be central to maintaining fleet reliability and road safety for a diverse client base.

Primary Duties

  • Perform comprehensive hands-on mechanical repairs and installations primarily on heavy-duty trucks, including engine systems, transmissions, brakes, and suspensions.
  • Conduct light to heavy-duty vehicle alignments, using precision tools and techniques to ensure optimal vehicle operation and safety.
  • Carry out detailed inspections and diagnostics, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults, and execute repairs with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Remove and replace undercarriage components such as suspensions, springs, ball joints, king pins, and spring hangers on a variety of vehicle classes.
  • Perform specialized tasks including welding repairs on vehicle frames, rebuilding torque arms, and renewing bushings to maintain structural integrity.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior mechanics, fostering a collaborative learning environment and promoting skill development within the team.
  • Maintain meticulous records of repairs, parts used, and diagnostic results to support ongoing vehicle maintenance programs and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Adhere strictly to workplace safety standards and protocols, ensuring all procedures promote a safe and productive working environment.
  • Adapt to additional duties and responsibilities as required, contributing versatile skills to meet the evolving needs of the service department.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic workshop environment, managing multiple repair tasks efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical and electrical vehicle issues.
  • Proficient in interpreting comprehensive technical documents including safety protocols, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair instructions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate with clients regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
  • Mathematical competency to calculate measurements and apply geometric and algebraic principles pertinent to mechanical repair and adjustments.
  • Capable of understanding diverse instructional formats, from written texts to oral briefings and technical schematics, to execute repair procedures accurately.
  • Experience performing a broad range of complex mechanical duties, demonstrating skill adaptability under general supervision.
  • Possession of a complete set of personal tools essential for vehicle repair tasks, with additional specialty tools provided by the company as necessary.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving automotive technologies and repair techniques.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of six years of extensive experience in automotive mechanical repair and maintenance, with a strong focus on heavy-duty and commercial vehicles.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Mandatory Class 8 Inspection License combined with prior hands-on mechanic experience in heavy-duty truck servicing.
  • Certification or practical experience in welding processes is an advantageous addition.
  • Commercial Driver's License Class A (CDL-A) required for operation and testing of commercial vehicles.
  • Proven track record in workplace safety and adherence to state and federal vehicle repair and inspection regulations.
