Job Summary
Dorman Products is searching for an Engineering Services Intern to join our team for the summer of 2025. For 10 to 12 weeks you will play an active role on the Mechanical Engineering Service Team, a support group to the Engineering organization, specifically within product testing, metrology, mechanical design, and test development teams. You will have exposure to cross functional areas with project opportunities for increased collaboration and learning. Performance will be monitored to assure learning and development is happening and you will be expected to present project details to our leadership team at the conclusion of the internship. This internship is onsite Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, in our corporate headquarters in suburban Philadelphia (Colmar, PA). It's an easy train ride on SEPTA's Lansdale / Doylestown Line to the Link Belt station.
Primary Duties
- Utilize lab best practices to prepare sample parts for evaluation.
- Perform internal product performance testing in the laboratory, and create documentation.
- Record data from testing in standard formats and provide results to product and engineering teams.
- Coordinate with product teams to create CAD models, drawings, and documentation based on data acquired individually or with support from engineering and metrology lab.
- Interpret 3D models and 2D drawings to create/assemble prototypes and testing equipment.
- Maintain Lean/5S environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with vehicle systems, including body and electronics, preferred.
- Experience with 3D CAD and/or CAM preferred.
- Knowledge of 3D printing and/or machining is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated communication ability.
Education / Experience
- Actively pursuing a degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar engineering-related discipline preferred, but not required.
