Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team in our corporate headquarters in suburban Philadelphia (Colmar, PA). As an Electrical Engineer for Dorman, you will implement and coordinate engineering projects that will support the development and improvement of our products. Additional responsibilities include the measurement, evaluation and documentation of product characteristics with respect to function, reliability, and quality. This position conducts and coordinates product validation, first article inspection, coordination of external and internal product testing and inspection criteria. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who can think outside the box and use creative methods to solve problems and develop new solutions. Primary Duties

  • Evaluate data and review product specifications for product feasibility. 
  • Work with product line managers and purchasing to aid in the development of product utilizing reverse engineering best practices. 
  • Produce product documentation that sufficiently identifies product dimensional and performance requirement. 
  • Develop bench testing procedures and set-up for mock vehicle testing. 
  • Direct, coordinate, or fabricate prototype product sample builds. 
  • Work with product managers to plan and develop new product ideas. 
  • Conduct Production Part Approval Process inspections 
  • Conduct/coordinate external and internal product testing. 
  • Conduct product validation and testing. 
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional, reliability and quality requirements. 
  • Confer with product team to prepare and implement design modifications. 
  • Evaluate and summarize engineering information for marketing product presentations. 

Qualifications

  • Experience and testing products containing the following: 
  • Circuit board applications ranging from 10-30 components 
  • Low component micro-processor applications 
  • Multiple passive components 
  • Multiple passive circuit elements 
  • Multiple ICs and timer ICs 
  • Multiple transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, inductors 
  • Hall effect sensors 
  • Stator coils 
  • Experienced with the use of power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc. 
  • Familiar with IEEE standards. 
  • Experience in cross-functional team. 
  • Basic knowledge of automotive and vehicle hardware a plus. 
  • Proficient in OrCad and P-Spice software. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Access. 
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.  
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate. 

Education / Experience

  • BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Electrical Engineering or other advanced education. 
  • 5+ years' experience in Electrical Engineering.
