Trade Compliance Analyst

This position will assist the Trade Compliance Supervisor of Product Classification with all aspects around product data mining as it relates to Import / Export Customs compliance, Excel, Customs Info Manager and SAP or other ERP system(s).

 

Primary Duties: 

  • Assist with all Classification(s) for Dorman entities (US, CA, ECCN, Schedule B, ADD/CVD, SIMA, etc.).
  • Assist with determination and full compliance of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification for imports and Schedule B for exports 
  • Customs Clearance Support (as needed).
  • Assist with Analysis, Preparation, and Submission of Customs Bindings Rulings.
  • Document Classification Processes and Procedures, assist with SOP’s.
  • Audit, Maintain, and Document classification updates for Dorman entities.
  • HTS Master Database Management for Dorman entities.
  • Determine HTS. Schedule B, ECCN codes with Justifications and document in Excel and Customs Info Manager
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications: 

  • Limited experience, but strong willingness to learn, the determination of product classifications including HTS, ECCN, ADD and CVD, Section 301 / 232.  Prior classification work in the automotive and electronic industry a plus.
  • Demonstrated data analytical skills and familiarly with ERP (SAP), Global Trade systems, ACE and Excel.
  • Desire to learn global trade compliance regulations (e.g. NAFTA, CAFTA, country of origin, item markings etc.) import compliance procedures, broker operations, recordkeeping and auditing
  • Limited knowledge of global trade compliance issues but desire to learn.
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong business acumen, Risk based decision maker
  • Assertiveness on compliance topics
  • Self-starter with limited support needed for core areas of expertise described above (Classification, Customs Entry Auditing, Corrections, Record Keeping).

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline strongly preferred; comparable combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Minimum job-related professional experience in overseas purchasing, quality or supply planning or warehousing of 3-4 years.
