Quality Technician

Job Summary:

      The quality technician will be responsible for performing inspections of incoming product, warranty returns and             newly developed products.  The individual will record and analyze inspection data, clearly communicate issues to         the team, and provide disposition of discrepant material.  The person will support the investigation of potential             product issues and the evaluation of customer feedback on products.  The quality technician will work with                  Quality, Engineering, Product Teams, and Suppliers to provide input to the corrective/preventative action (CAPA)          process.  This individual will assist engineering with new product development activities and support site quality          leadership with quality system development and implementation of quality improvements.


Primary Duties (5-7 Key responsibilities)
  • Perform inspection of products received as warranty/labor claims, product inventory, and engineering samples.
  • Evaluate customer returned parts, submitted as warranty claims.  This includes the review,  

               testing, data entry, disposition, and communication of findings for each claim.

  • Provide feedback to promptly resolve customer issues, using phone and/or email.
  • Communicate findings to the Quality, Engineering, and Product Teams.
  • Guide activities around nonconformances and material containment.
  • Participate and assist the team in CAPA activities.
  • Create reports, track metrics, and provide recommendations to Quality Management.
  • Assist in documenting best practices and drive continuous improvement mindset.
  • Provide support in other Quality & Engineering functions as needed.


  • Working understanding of materials and inspection processes.
  • Manufacturing experience and knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstration of excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented, willing to take initiative to learn new information.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstration of advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, focus on Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to deconstruct parts using standard hand & power tools.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawing standards. Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of product qualification testing and metrology tools and equipment: micrometers, calipers, check gauges.
  • 7 Axis CMM arm experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with automotive quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and process capability.
  • Able to use 3D CAD software, SolidWorks & Inventor is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Heavy Duty Vehicle systems is preferred.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.

Education And/Or experience:

  • Minimum 3-year experience in quality, operations, metrology, or manufacturing role, associate degree preferred
  • Working experience within a light manufacturing or distribution environment.
