The Human Resources Manager provides daily management of all HR activities related to Employee Development, Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Payroll, Employee Engagement, and Workers Compensation at an assigned Operations site. The HR Manager will work with Corporate HQ by providing a consultative, strategic and value added partnership to the designated business units. Will partner with respective Distribution Operations leadership to ensure attraction and retention goals are met; ensures that all partners have the necessary resources to drive contributor growth and development, recognition and succession.


Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Create alignment between workforce and organizational goals. Use metrics to influence and drive business results.
  • Identify and analyze HR processes; effectively maintain HR information systems (Success Factors).
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations to increase the efficiency of the business unit and services performed.
  • Provide direction and guidance in interpreting HR policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in Corporate HR team initiatives.
  • In conjunction with Talent Acquisition, develop a strategic approach to attracting and recruiting talent.  Oversees daily talent acquisition activities and ensures processes are most effective and efficient for the company and the candidate.
  • Assess needs and designs plans related to change management, succession planning, and contributor development initiatives.  Partners with Director of Contributor Development to execute initiatives.
  • Promote positive contributor relations through communication and leadership education.
  • Partner with site leadership to design communications related to HR initiatives and business unit goals.
  • Partner with managers to address performance and employee conduct issues and corrective actions. 
  • Partner with Distribution Operations to address Environmental Health & Safety activities and issues

  • Bachelor's degree required; PHR also required if Bachelors is not in related field
  • 7+ years HR generalist experience with 3+ years supervisory experience
  • Experience working in a Distribution or Manufacturing Operations environment
  • Strong knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, case law, principles, and practices related to employee conduct, performance, and dispute resolution.
  • Proficient in HR concepts, principles, and practices related to identifying, attracting, and selecting individuals and placing them into positions to address changing organizational needs.
  • Proficient in performance management concepts, principles, and practices related to planning, monitoring, rating, and rewarding employee performance.
  • Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices related to retirement, insurance, workers compensation, and other employee benefits programs.
  • Understanding of compensation concepts, principles, and practices, including pay and leave administration and compensation flexibilities.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be confident and able to handle difficult situations independently
  • Must be able to work with contributors at all levels of the organization
  • Must be proactive in working with and guiding Sr. Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Team player who is proactive, motivated, innovative and results-oriented


Physical Requirements: Capability to lift 50 pounds. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen.  Noise level is usually moderate.
