Demand Planning Manager

As a Demand Planning Manager for Dorman Products, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of demand planners who are maintaining a product demand forecast for a portfolio of automotive aftermarket parts as well as managing relationships with our strategic customers.  You will partner with the Product Management, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and Customer teams to align on a consensus demand plan that drives Dorman’s supply chain and supports the corporate Sales, Inventory, & Operations Planning (SI&OP) process.


Primary Duties

  • Develop a team of 4-5 Product and Customer-facing demand planners. Provide guidance and support on Dorman’s strategic vision as they manage SKU and category level product forecasts.
  • Manage the analytics for creating the demand plan such as historical sales, market trends, seasonality, lifecycle, promotions, customer POS and inventory levels, as well as customer projections.
  • Oversee the analytics and preparation for Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) calls with our strategic customers, such as forecast variance, inventory performance, product lifecycle reviews, and consensus planning.
  • Partner with Supply Chain Management, Product, Sales, Category Management, and Customers to develop and deploy lifecycle planning and end-to-end supply chain initiatives that optimize inventory pipeline investments and achieve customer serviceability requirements.
  • Participate and contribute to monthly Pre-SIOP conversations by preparing deliverables for the Executive SI&OP, tailoring presentation material and effectively communicating at the appropriate level for varied audiences.
  • Strive to continuously improve Demand Planning’s process by creating and distributing new reporting, advancing the teams analytics, and maintaining forecasting tools. Update and validate statistical models with the latest internal and external data to improve forecast accuracy and reduce bias.
  • Promote an environment of teamwork and cooperation. Be mindful of internal stakeholder needs and priorities.  Communicate effectively to ensure alignment on key issues and initiatives and draw insights from cross functional teams to enhance and improve business processes and performance.



  • End-to-End business and financial Acumen and an understanding end to end supply chain principles.

  • Outstanding verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and the ability to interact collaboratively and lead with effective partnerships, with both internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in preparing effective business presentations and facilitating meetings with diverse audiences.
  • Must be a data driven decision maker with the ability to recognize opportunities, problem resolution, and recommend solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced Excel Skills necessary.
  • Proficiency within ERP/MRP environments.  SAP ECC and APO a plus.
  • Understanding of planning process fundamentals and concepts in manufacturing. Background in master scheduling, forecasting, procurement, planning and DRP/MRP functionality a plus.
  • APICS of other forecasting certification preferred


Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline.  An advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5-10 years demand planning experience
