This position will be part of a 2-year rotation throughout the different business units of Dorman Products. During these rotations, the Assistant Product Manager will learn the fundamentals of a Product Management position and how the strategic business units operate. The Assistant Product Manager will focus on learning about each SBU’s customer relationships, portfolio management, competitive landscape and new product introduction as well as how to analyze and maintain critical data and reports. After the 2-year rotational period, the Assistant Product Manager will assemble and present an executive level presentation that demonstrates program knowledge and will join a SBU to further their career development in Product.
PRIMARY DUTIES /KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Research, create and recommend New Product adds using critical data and reporting such as the new idea database, forum research and sales information
• Assist the Product Managers on the SBU’s on pricing, researching and analyzing data, creation of BOM (Bill of materials) and product interchanges.
• Assist the Product Manager to create and execute, as well as learn category and customer strategies and go to market approaches
• Develop understanding of SBU and cross functional roles in order to action tasks in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Aftermarket / automotive experience is a plus
• Experienced working in cross functional teams
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite and specifically Excel including pivot tables and v-lookups
Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 50 pounds. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• B.S. degree in Business preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2 or more years’ experience in Product Management, Marketing, Data Analysis, or Strategic sourcing preferred
